Eremon mac Mileag , Eochaidh I 2nd King of Ireland at Tara, King of Munster1
M, d. 1683 BC
| Nickname | | Heremon, Eiremon, Eremhon, Geide Ollgothach, Erimhon (?)1 |
| Birth* | | Iberia or Spain1 |
| Marriage* | | Principal=Tamar Thephi ben Zedikiah1 |
| Marriage* | | 1 |
| Death* | 1683 BC | Rath-Beothaight, Argat-Ross, Ireland1 |
| Note* | | FROM: High McGough, Irish Kings, www.magoo.com/hugh/irishkings.html, Aug 8, 2001, Internet. Eremon Alternate name forms: Heremon, Eremhom, Emhear, EirireamhA3n, Eireamhon, h-Eremon Eremon was the seventh son of Milesius. Emher was his eldest brother. Joint rule in 3500. Eremhon killed Emhear and his wife in 3500 in a quarrel over territory, and ruled alone into 3516. During Eremon's reign alone, a '... colony called by the Irish Cruithneaigh, in English 'Cruthneans' or Picts, arrived in Ireland and requested Heremon to assign them a part of the country to settle in, which he refused; but, giving them as wives the widows of the Tuatha de-Danans, slain in battle, he sent them with a strong party of his own forces to conquer the country then called 'Alba,' but now Scotland; conditionally, that they and their posterity should be tributary, to the Monarchs of Ireland.' Descendants of Milesius on the Hynes Clan web site. Tara Most of the Milesian kings ruled from Tara. 'Tara is a prehistoric burial site in County Meath, famed as the legendary capital of the high kings of Ireland, and a holy site for thousands of years. Here, according to tradition, elaborate rites were carried out between the future high king of Tara and the goddess of sovereignty. Medb, for example, was said to have participated in a ritual union with nine of the high kings, preventing the rule of any candidates who refused to mate with her. Another test was provided by the Stone of Fal, which screamed when it was touched by the rightful heir. There are claims that Cormac mac Art, a leading figure in the Fionn cycle, established a sumptuous court at Tara and a lavish festival was also regularly celebrated at Samhain, on 1 November. 'In the fifth century, the place was occupied by Niall of the Nine Hostages and it was here that his pagan son, King Laoghaire, was supposed to have been confronted by St. Patrick. After this, Tara's importance appears to have declined.' The Celtic Connectionƒ_'Tara .1 |

Sophia Atwater
F
| Birth* | | Bayfield, Nova Scotia, Canada |
| Note | | It seems clear from church and census records that the girl registered as being baptized as 'Lydia Ann' is the girl called 'Sophia' in the 1871 census. But which name is CORRECT?? No date of birth is given at the baptism, so I wonder if the record was recorded later, perhaps incorrectly. Unfortunately she is not in the 1881 census, and since Jost indicates that the family consisted of only 4 girls and 3 boys, I can only assume that Sophia may have died young. I suppose she could have married young and been forgotten. |
